Less than an hour to go until the Game of Thrones Season 6 finale!
In light of this season having surprised me with alarming frequency, I am trying very hard to put all my expectations on hold. I assume the finale will shock us all in many ways. And I have a sneaking suspicion that some fan theories will be debunked in this episode. With that in mind:
I’ll try my best not to be one of those fans.
This is the part where I do a little rundown of making ASOIAF (books!) predictions based on what we just got on GoT (show!). Putting this biz under the jump for the benefit of my peeps who haven’t been able to watch the episode yet.
Back to my Game of Thrones posting.
I’m somewhat less fuzzy-headed today, and now that I’ve had some time, and read an interview with Clive Russell (dude who plays Blackfish), I realize I have no idea what I’m talking about regarding the Blackfish or the Brotherhood Without Banners. We have three episodes left in the season to show us what explains the BWB’s turn to terrorism and what goals the Blackfish has in mind.
More discombobulated thoughts below the jump.
As a good Game of Thrones fan, I had to stay up well past my bedtime last night. I took an assignment for FanSided with a morning deadline, which was okay this week because I don’t have work today. The practical upshot was that I basically watched the episode twice in a row; first time without interruptions so I could live-Tweet at the same time as all the other Stateside nerds, and second time so I could take screencaps for my Monday morning article.
I also drank a lot of wine last night. Like, a really ridiculous amount of wine, so I was nice and buzzed when I wrote my new slide show. In retrospect, I’m surprised at how coherent it is. 5 Questions Answered in Episode 6. (SPOILER warning for my peeps who haven’t had a chance to watch the episode yet.)
One more thing about “The Door”:
Those of you who’ve seen the new Game of Thrones: I told you it was lit. My UK peeps who’ll have to wait a few more hours: get ready. Jack Bender and Bryan Cogman are here to put on a play and bring the pain…AND THE THEATER JUST CLOSED FOR THE NIGHT.
My latest at FanSided: 30 Shockers and Predictions for Season 6!
Throners, I stayed up late to get this slideshow ready for FanSided ahead of my deadline of Tuesday at noon. Yes, that’s last Tuesday, May 17th, at midday. I stayed up late on Monday night to have it ready on time, in case I didn’t have a chance to work on formatting on Tuesday morning. I have to work as an accountant during regular business hours, and I don’t always get a chance to submit blog posts at a particular time in the workday.
While all my GoT peeps were going nuts on Twitter today, I was caught in a constant parade of brain-scrambling fuckery at work, and that’s nowhere near as much fun as it sounds. Basically, everyone spent all day forcing me to fall behind on my workload, and that’s the opposite of a restful day. So I didn’t have the time or the headspace to do a post on the HBO-sanctioned synopses for episodes 6 and 7.
Well. I’m feeling a bit better now, so, here’s what I want to deal with: who’s still in King’s Landing these days?
Now THAT was quite an episode of Game of Thrones. I’m putting all the stuff under the cut for the benefit of my UK peeps who haven’t had a chance to watch.
Great news, Throners! We have two new episode titles, and one of them almost certainly refers to something AWESOME happening in the Riverlands Reunion!
I covered the episode titles here, and said a few words about what THAT one means.
For those who can’t be bothered to follow that link: the title of Ep6 is “Blood of My Blood,” the reaction to which is mostly “eh, okay,” and the title of Ep7 is “The Broken Man,” the reaction to which is basically “HOLY FUCKING SHIT” all over Twitter.
