Search Terms: All black and brown and covered in hair!

Someone found this blog today by searching for:

song when jaimes hand is cut off

The song you’re thinking of is “The Bear and the Maiden Fair.”

And I’m afraid that song was not included in any of my previous blog posts, but anyway. In the books, the song doesn’t play into the maiming, but on the show, it does. The Bolton soldiers who take Jaime and Brienne captive sing the song on the road during S3:E3, and then the song is performed again during the closing credits, right after the hand-chop. Here is how the song relates to the series. Complete with lyrics! You’re welcome.

  1. Thanks for sharing the link to the song and lyrics!

I remember how mad some people were when Jaime’s hand chopping moment went to the raucous rendition of the Bear and the Maiden Fair in the credits.

I thought the contrast was awesome, myself.

    • I thought that was a pretty tasteless choice of closing-credits music, but it’s tasteless in the same way that much of what happens on GoT is tasteless, so whatevs.

  2. This is one of my favourite songs, seconded by Rains of Castamere.
In the books, I loved it when Butterbumps played it and the Queen of Thorns was ordering him to play it even louder so as not to have her conversation with Sansa eavesdropped.
