1. Begin reading chapter which you wrote 3 years ago. Cringe at heavy-handed beginning.
2. Remove large chunk of chapter; send to circular file.
3. Chop remaining material into chunks; rearrange sequence.
4. Write new introduction and transitions to fill in gaps.
5. Make that sucker work.
6. Large numbers of heavy-poured drinks may be involved. Try to make it to day job on time next morning.
